Eviction and evacuation of damaged homes have continued in the Karm Houmed neighbourhood of east Aleppo city amid fears of building collapses. Some of the recent demolitions appear to have been done at random or based on maliciously written reports, rather than on safety standards or legal requirements.

The recent collapse of an unlicensed constructed building in Aleppo’s Al-Fardous neighbourhood has sparked rare outrage in state-run and other local media outlets. These agencies have called on authorities to punish those responsible for the incident and to remove similar buildings in accordance with Decree No. 40 of 2012.
